Declaration of principles PDF Print E-mail

When the ICE took on its name, it was clear, that they wouldn’t call themselves “Initiative for a Christian Europe”, but “Christian Initiative for Europe”. The subtile difference, however, is tremendous and describes the mentality of this network perfectly well.

Europe has become a multiethnic reality. And this is a splendorous fortune at the beginning of the third millennium.

Its Christian identity appears with all humility and partnership what means that it primarily tries to concentrate people who try to build up a Europe on ecumenical principles. Its first priority is help for the frails. Inspired by the „Diocese of Christ“ 'come to help not to get helped’, these actions choose the less fortunate ones and try to further the support for social activities.

ICE considers itself to be a binding element between the social encouragement and the young supporters, which would not be possible without this kind of network. Additionally, ICE is a platform for the youngsters to chat and communicate, so that they can experience the “social Europe” in all its multifarious aspects. And also thanks to their attendance in this foreign country, the volunteers are sure to connect to this spirit.

Gilles Rebeche, deacon of Frejus-Toulon, founding member of the “Union Diaconale du Var” and “ICE-Réseau Francophone”, MP of the Episcopal Conference of France.
